Alert- Novel coronavirus (2019- nCoV) - Insurance Coverage

Reference: CIR-2020-00000050

To: All DHA Licensed Health Facilities in Dubai

Based on the directives received from Ministry of Health And Protection (MOHAP), all DHA licensed health  facilities must consider suspected/confirmed cases of novel Corona Virus (2019-nCoV) as emergency cases, and according to the approved case definition - sent earlier in circular No. 356 dated 23rd Jan. 2020 (attached)

All health facilities  must classify the confirmed and suspected nCoV 2019 cases as emergency cases within the following two categories:

1.      Insurance Coverage is Available:

The cases shall be treated as emergencies according to insurance regulation and insurance companies will honor any claims received.

2.      Unavailability of Insurance Coverage:

The cases shall be considered emergencies and suspected/confirmed cases will not bear any payment of health care costs at health care facilities.

This is to ensure the health and safety of the community and to contain patients with confirmed /suspected infection, and provide them with proper health services.

All health facilities are expected to abide to this circular and the earlier DHA circular # 0451 dated 29th Jan. 2020                   ( attached).

Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation

With Regards – Dubai Health Authority
